Orangevale Charitable Fund

Orangevale Charitable Fund Brochure

Established in 2001, the Orangevale Rotary Charitable Fund has been recognized as a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt charitable organization. The fund was developed to maximize the effectiveness of the dollars raised through fundraising so as to finance community projects. The dollars in the fund represent money raised beyond the needs of the club's operating budget. The goal was also to provide a vehicle to donors who wish to claim legitimate tax exemptions for their donations. The mission of the Orangevale Rotary Charitable Fund is "to assist and support our local community by providing: (a) assistance to the needy, (b) college scholarships to individuals, who have shown proficiency in academics, leaderships skills and community service, thus to develop and achieve their highest potential and (c) to assist other worthwhile service projects in the greater Sacramento area." The Board of the Charitable Fund consists of five directors who serve three-year terms. The terms begin on different three-year cycles so as to promote continuity. The current Board members are Pat Surra and Jane Wise, whose terms end in July, 2004; Lorie Rheams, whose term ends in 2005; and Karis Walmer and Dennis Metzler, whose terms end in 2006. Pat Surra serves as CFO, Jane Wise as president, and Don Morris is the Board-appointed Secretary, although not an officer. It is the practice of the Board to fill two of the slots with the current club president and president-elect in order to keep clear lines of communication with the Rotary Club Board sponsor.
