The Rotary Club of Orangevale offers three scholarships for graduating seniors at Bella Vista and Casa Roble Fundamental High Schools. We award a $2,000 academic scholarship to each school to be awarded at the school's discretion to a highly promising academic senior who may not have received other scholarship aid. We also offer a $2000 competitive scholarship, the Laird Smith Scholarship, for a college-bound student who has excelled at community service and plans to continue to be involved with community service in the future. Additionally, the club offers a $500 vocational scholarship for a junior college-bound student who has excelled in the Regional Occupation Program and demonstrates a clear plan for his/her vocational future. Overview

Rotary District Awards

During the course of a Rotary year, July through June, the Orangevale Club makes several awards: Teacher of the Year, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Employer of the Year, and Mother of the Year. The club seeks nominations from the public for Employer of the Year and Mother of the Year. Click on the descriptors at the left for more information on the nomination process and criteria. This year's Teacher of the Year is Dave Bullock, a teacher at Roberts Elementary School who has organized a computer club and spent much personal time working with us in building the amphitheater at the school. The law Officer of the Year is Steve Valdez, a CHP officer with 21 years experience who now works in Problem Oriented Policing. Our Citizen of the Year is Marty Manges, who has organized the weekly bingo program for Casa Roble sports since 1992 even when he no longer had students attending school.

Orangevale Rotary has been recognized in District 5180 (34 clubs in northern California) for many achievements (see District Awards). The club was also given a Significant Achievement Award for the completion of Casa Roble's Softball Field of Dreams.
