The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.

The Foundation has grown from an initial contribution of $26.50 to more than US $117.9 million dollars contributed in 2004-05. Its event-filled history is a story of Rotarians learning the value of service to humanity.

Rotary International Foundation's Funding Sources

Annual Fund Support

The Annual Fund is composed of the contributions by which all of the Rotary International projects are supported. The over $15,000 contributed during the 2005-2006 Rotary year represents approximately $340 per Orangevale member. For each of the last nine years, the Rotary Club of Orangevale has been within the top three per capita contributing clubs in District 5180 (34 Rotary clubs in the district). Since its chartering in 1960, members of the Rotary Club of Orangevale have contributed over $188,000 in support of RI’s Foundation projects. To date, 128 Rotarians and friends of the Rotary Club of Orangevale have become Paul Harris Fellows. It is the goal of our 2006-2007 President, David Shepard, that the club membership provide an additional $15,000 for Foundation projects.
Paul Harris Fellow (PHF)

A member earns the title of Paul Harris Fellow by Contributing $1,000 to the Foundation during a period not to exceed ten years. As of July 1, 2006, there are forty-two members of the Rotary Club of Orangevale who are Paul Harris Fellows. As of July 1, 2006, thirteen active members of the club had made contributions exceeding $5,000 to the Foundation.

Sustaining Paul Harris Fellow (SPHF)

A sustaining Paul Harris Fellow is a member who is presently contributing to the Annual Fund, but who has yet to achieve a total contribution of $1,000. All but three Orangevale Rotary members who have not yet reached the $1,000 level are presently sustaining Paul Harris Fellows, making regular contributions to the RI Foundation.

Permanent Fund

The Permanent Fund is a Rotary endowment program which ensures that Rotary’s worldwide projects will thrive well into the future. In addition to the Annual Fund contributions, members of the Rotary Club of Orangevale have pledged, upon their death, gifts to Rotary International’s Permanent Fund, in excess of $135,000. There are thirty-three members of the club who have become benefactors.
