












The Rotary Club of Orangevale has named Beth Crews, a Social Science
teacher at Casa Roble H.S., as their Teacher of the Year at their
April 7th meeting. Beth has taught at Casa Roble H.S. for 13 years
in the subject areas of World History, Women in Literature/Women in
History, Geography and Sociology. She is one of the founders of the
first "Women in History/ Women in Literature courses in the San
Juan Unified School District.
Beth has initiated many worthwhile programs at Casa Roble to encourage
and protect women as well as to discourage racism and harassment.
She is one of the founders of Club Jayne, a feminist book club for
women. Beth also works with WEAVE to make students aware of the dangers
facing women. She is a founder of C.O.D.E., a club for teens that
tackles issues of racisim and harassment on campus and which helped
sponsor "Friendship Day" at Casa Roble.
Vera Vaccaro, Principal of Casa Roble H.S., praised Beth as an outstanding and dedicated teacher and shared letters from students that described Beth as a very knowlegeable, hard-working, tolerant and caring teacher, mentor and friend.
